If you or the man you are shopping for has a smaller neck size around 15-16" you can get away with a 20" necklace. If he is in the 17-18" neck size we recommend no less than 22". And for 18" or more, 24-26" is best. You can add 2" for every 1" in "drop" you want the chain to fall down your neckline.

We are always asked, "What millimeter width should I get for my chain?" For men, we recommend anywhere between 3mm to 8mm for necklaces. Anything under 3mm on a man's neck will typically look too feminine and thin. Obviously, the wider the necklace the better, but we understand budget concerns arise when you increase the width of the chain. So consider getting a wider necklace in a lower karat grade versus a higher karat and a smaller width.
